Picking the right Farallon

When considering a Farallon there are many things that have to be thought of when determining the best boat. Size, style, and use are all great starting blocks when considering a Farallon. We make it easy by offering a range of sizes, 23, 26, 28, and 32 feet. The styles come down to Whaleback or Walkaround. This is where one has to think about what the boat's use will be. We have commercial and recreational customers, charters, police and fire departments that all buy our boats and they all use them for different purposes.

Walkarounds are great for maximum fish-ability space as well as the freedom to move around the cabin with ease. It is great for charters and serious fishermen that need to place customers or friends around the boat and still offer the safety from our stainless steel handrails. The Walkaround models do lose cabin space, which is why they are very popular in the warmer climates and with customers that need more deck space. Pairing a Walkaround with outboards makes it possible to have a flush deck, which means more deck space and easier ability to move around.

Whalebacks are the same aft deck space as a walkaround, just with the cabin extending all the way to the sides. This gives the cabin more space and more abilities to customize the layout. With the Whaleback, one can still navigate to the front of the boat by walking on the side ledge and holding onto the rails mounted on top of the cabin. There is also a hatch in the cuddy that opens to the front mainly for fresh air, but can be used for access to the front if needed. Our Whalebacks are popular with people that do not need to walk completely around the cabin and would rather have that extra cabin and cuddy space.

Having a custom boat makes it possible to make it perfect for you. From adding more seating inside to adding compressors for diving, or adding a transom door that make it easy to pull in the big fish or to step onto the swim step. If you can think it, we can build it! Here at Farallon, we do everything we can to make sure your boat is YOUR boat. Below is a comparison between two layout options inside, a standard kitchenette that can sit two vs. the bench seating with that can sit 3-4.
